  • Welcome to my little corner of the interwebs!

Here you'll find a little bit of some of the most awesome and beautiful people on the planet! Grab a comfy blanket and a snack and stay a while.

There's lots to look through and I'm happy you're here!

If you're looking for a good time just hit that inquire button up top and let's get this party started!

    xo ~

I had the distinct pleasure of shooting 3 beautiful ladies last night for the deliciously talented Kristina Frank.  This girl has a way with make-up….I was shocked at not only the gorgeous faces she selected for the shoot but by her skills with a make-up brush!

In my profession you come across a lot of people in the make-up and hair industry.  Some are good.  Some are so-so and then some come along that just blow you away.  I can honestly say that Kristina blew me away!!!

I’d like to share with you a few shots from last night’s shoot.

You. Are. Incredible!  I can’t wait to work the 50s shoot with you in November.  We are going to rock the socks off people!!

Amber 😀

***The bridal shots were taken at night, after dress drama, so I had to step waaaaaaaay out of my comfort zone and shoot with lighting.  (I am FAR from where I need to be with this whole lighting thing, but I think I captured what Kristina wanted for her portfolio and now I see a pathway to grow and learn in order to become better.)  What good is being an artist if you can’t see where you need improvement and if you lack the desire to grow???  I love seeing where my work has gone in just 2 1/2 short years and I look forward to where it will continue to go.  Much is the same for Mrs. Frank!!  You will go places my dear 🙂

Wow, 6 weeks of planning, decoration making, plotting and scheming….all for one day, and one day that got rained out!! UGH!!!  My beautiful garden picnic got turned into an art gallery rather than a place to gather, eat and laugh.  Due to the inconsiderate rain, the party took place indoors with people going out back “touring” the patio and all that had been set up.  I felt like I was running a museum 😛

But despite the rain, my baby girl had a FABULOUS day!  She loved her candy bar, she was BONKERS about her cake and so many of our closest friends and family shared in on another year past for my Bug!

I didn’t take pics during the party to avoid getting caught up in capturing moments rather than savoring them 🙂  but I did photograph the setup prior to guests arriving as well as took some photos for those people who were kind enough to lend their talents to making this special day come to life 😀

I’d also like to take a moment to thank someone who worked behind the scenes helping me create this perfect party for my princess.  Melisa, you were a lifesaver.  From the amazing mushroom cookies you made, helping me set up the “tea party” to forcing me into the shower promising to take care of everything else for me… were my saving grace.  I owe you a HUGE thanks for what you did and for the time you gave to me.  I love you pumpkin!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you….and I mean it from the utmost bottom of my heart!!

So here you go, take a visual walk through Alice’s garden tea party and enjoy…..

I want to start this post off with an apology….because this is going to be a loooooooooong one 🙂

My husband and I woke up early Saturday morning, before driving back down to Detroit following Friday’s engagement session, and hiked about 4 miles photographing this beautiful island 😀  Believe me when I say I narrowed this post down the best that I could….but there is just far too much I want to share!!

I also took the liberty of trying some new editing techniques on most of these 🙂  It’s nice to do something out of the ordinary or that I normally wouldn’t do.  I think it worked.  I hope you all like ’em too!!

Main Street was so quaint and welcoming….shop windows with tasty treats lined the sidewalks!!

Some of what we found during our hike around the island…..

Horse drawn carriage and bike are the two modes of transportation.  Of course there is also the BMW….your basic method of walking 😉  A car hasn’t been allowed on the island in over 100 yrs.  Of course there are emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances, but police walk the streets mingling with the shop owners and the postman rides a bike with a basket in the back for all of his deliveries.  Everyone knew the town doctor and called him by name.  It felt like we were time warped back into the 1800s and it was GREAT!

My dream house 😀

My Jr. Photographer in training!!!!!

We came across these lovely gentlemen who were gearing up for a little Civil War reenactment

BEAUTIFUL Main Street 😀

Saturday was September 11th and there were American flags everywhere!!

There are 3 old churches from the 1800s that we found on the island.  This one was open for us to come in.

Yes, this is actually someone’s view from their house and backyard….I am green with envy!!

On the way out to the island on Friday I saw this old barn and willow tree, with a beautiful blue sky as the backdrop.  I knew I didn’t have time to stop and snap any shots so I decided to wait until our drive back down to Detroit on Saturday.  Unfortunately Mother Nature decided that rain was in the forecast and it rained the entire 5 hour drive back down, so when we passed the barn again in the rain I didn’t care about the gray sky behind or the rain coming into the car window…I just knew I had to grab the shot even if it no longer had that beautiful blue sky.  So here is the other extreme of what that scene looked like to me….

Once back in the Detroit area my hubby and I stopped by the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.  And holy moly it was incredible!

This is student housing….YES!  Student housing!!!

  • AmandaD - Great photos- Mackinac has been on my list of places to visit for a while, especially since I get up to Detroit frequently, but I’m not sure I’d go up there during winter 😉

  • Stephanie Bachle - Great pictures Amber! I really enjoyed looking through these. You did an excellent job of putting them together. I felt like I was there for a minute!

  • maegan o - This looks like such a cute place! 🙂 beautiful,Amber!
